Gibberellin promotes the elongation of cells and stems, the enlargement of leaves, parthenocarpy, fruit growth, breaks the dormancy of seeds, changes the ratio of male and female flowers, affects flowering time, and reduces the shedding of flowers and fruits. It is an antagonist of growth inhibitors such as paclobutrazol and chlormequat.
